1. Jeep safari on Wahiba Sands: a 4×4 excursion into the dunes of Wahiba Sands is one of the major draws of our Oman tours and is the best way to discover its natural splendour. With over 15,000 square kilometres of immense dunes and rock formations mapping out millions of years of evolution, the sand dunes of Wahiba are an unforgettable experience. After a day traversing the dunes, the perfect finale is to settle back and watch the sun setting from your overnight desert camp. A night under the millions of stars awaits.

2. Wade in the Wadi: Oman is famous for its wadis; lush oases of green nestled in its mountain valleys, and Wadi Bin Khaled is one of the largest in the country. Natural springs feed large pools of deep, clear water surrounded by lush palm trees and shrubs. Above this, steep cliffs rise up out of the wadi’s colourful valley floor. Canyons, folded layered rocks and caves complete this unique mountain microclimate – an absolute must-see on our Oman trips.

3. Visit Nizwa Fort: the desert landscape of Oman is covered with forts. Nizwa Fort is the largest on the Arabian Peninsula. With fine examples of Islamic architecture, it was the seat of power during the Al Ya’ruba Dynasty. The best way to arrive there is on a camel ride. As you trek through the shimmering desert, the vast walls appear suddenly rising dramatically from the desert.

4. Muscat: the capital of Oman is a thriving city, offering a fascinating mix of ancient and modern. The city is also home to the Sultan’s Grand Mosque. An opulent building carved in marble and decorated with beautiful, ornate Islamic ceramics, our Oman tours would not be complete without it.

My week in Oman was such a special experience. Having travelled there without much knowledge of the country, I was absolutely blown away with the beauty and adventure it has to offer. This was my first trip with Exodus and I was really impressed with the level of communication in the lead up to the trip. The agenda for the week was jam-packed but it meant that we got to see SO much while we were there. It’s not a trip for someone looking to unwind and relax as there is very little time for that, but if you’re looking for amazing scenery, interesting experiences and fun memories, then this one is for you!
